We’re passionate about the role businesses play in shaping Leeds into a city with opportunities for all and creating positive impact in the communities that need it the most. In fact, the community pillar of our B Corp certification is one of our highest scoring impact areas and we focus on improving that score year on year.

As part of this commitment, we’ve been working closely with the amazing team over at CATCH for a number of years, raising money for them through Elympics and also building them the Super Stars app.

Since launching in 2019, the Super Stars app has been transformational in positively impacting the lives of young people living on one of Leeds’ most deprived suburbs; a story the whole team have loved being a part of.

You can read more about how the app works over on our case study. In simplest terms, it’s a bt like a digital version of the Scouts or Guides. Young people are awarded star badges for successfully completing a variety different tasks of varying difficulties, in areas such as team-work, community safety, leadership and social action. As the young people progress through the rankings, they’re develop a whole range of new skills which help open doors to new opportunities which would have previously been considered as unattainable.

We’ve loved working on the App with the young people at CATCH, which is why we were thrilled to hear team’s hard work was unexpectedly rewarded when we were presented with his District Chief Superintendent’s Commendation.

In recognition of your outstanding business support within the community, through your staff volunteer contribution, fundraising and digital expertise.

In appreciation of the commitment to community safety and innovative approach to problem-solving and partnership work.

Now we’re not normally one for awards, but this is one we’ll be cherishing for a long time to come.

“It’s brilliant to recognise local businesses like Engage for the work they do supporting communities across Leeds. The app is a brilliant example of how we can engage and support young people through an innovative approach.”

Steve Cotter, Leeds District Chief Superintendent
